On September 18, a video conference on "The crown of Azerbaijani music - Uzeyir Hajibeyli" was held on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and the National Music Day within the framework of the "Chamomile” Azerbaijani Diaspora Women's Network.
The virtual event, initiated and organized by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the “International Azerbaijani Women's Club”, the IMZA Social Development Support Public Union and Azerbaijanis’ Coordination Council in America, was attended by about 100 guests living abroad and in Azerbaijan.
Lala Isgandarova, an employee of the State Committee, Kamala Jeylinova, head of the “International Azerbaijani Women's Club”, Nargiz Ahmadgizi, head of the Ganja regional office of the IMZA Social Development Support Public Union, and Shabnam Shikhaliyeva, a canon teacher of the music department at the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, welcomed the guests with introductory speech.
Vusala Yusif, piano teacher at Sultan Qaboos University and Ph.D. in art history, made a presentation on archival photographs and historical facts about composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli. During the videoconference, Vusala Yusif and Shabnam Shikhaliyeva, a canon teacher at Sultan Qaboos University and moderator of the event, performed wonderful musical numbers from the works of Uzeyir Hajibeyov. Nurlan Jafarli, together with the Jafarlinsky Band, also performed some compositions on tar.
At the end of the event, the floor was given to the founder and executive director of the Azerbaijan-American Music Foundation, Doctor of Music Sciences, Jamila Javadova-Spitsberg, who, on her own initiative, presented a video with organists from the Netherlands, Italy, USA, Sweden, Finland, South Africa, South Korea and France, who performed the national anthem of Azerbaijan.
