The unity and agility of the Azerbaijani diaspora yielded results: The monument will be restored

Mayor of Waterloo Florence Reuter responded to a letter addressed by the Coordination Council of Netherlands-Belgium Azerbaijanis and the Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress regarding the vandalism act against the statue of Natavan Khurshidbanu.
The mayor said in a letter: "The situation is under control and police have started an investigation. A written report has been prepared. The monument will be restored. The relevant authorities are working on the incident”.
It was recalled that the act of vandalism against the statue of a prominent Azerbaijani poetess Khurshidbanu Natavan in Waterloo, Belgium has outraged our compatriots living in Europe. The Coordination Council of Netherlands-Belgium Azerbaijanis and Benelux Azerbaijanis appealed with a letter to Waterloo Mayor Florence Reuter in connection with the incident.
The monument to Khurshidbanu Natavan was erected in 2016 with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The words "Khurshidbanu Natavan, the modern educator and poetess of the East, Prince of Karabakh, Azerbaijan" are written on the pedestal of the statue. The monument is on the list of protected historical monuments of Waterloo.
