Delegation of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora in Kiev met with the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, professor Alexander Merezhko.
During the meeting, the activities of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, Diaspora policy of our country, projects implemented by the State Committee, integration of our compatriots into the Ukrainian society and other issues were discussed.
A.Merezhko, highly appreciating the activities of the Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Rada, noted that our compatriots are patriots, and they defend national interests of the country they live in along with their historical homeland.
Stressing that he maintains contact with his Azerbaijani colleagues through the parliamentary friendship group, Merezhko also expressed his attitude to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which is a painful problem for our country.
A member of the "Servant of the People" faction of the Verkhovna Rada said that this conflict should be resolved on the basis of UN resolutions and international law, that the occupied Azerbaijani lands should be liberated.
On behalf of the State Committee, the Ukrainian deputy was presented with souvenirs reflecting Azerbaijani culture.
