A meeting with the Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan held at the State Committee

Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora (SCWD) Fuad Muradov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov. During the meeting, discussions were held on the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia, the activities of the Russian community in our country, as well as the prospects of mutual cooperation.

Giving information about the activity, policy and practice of the State Committee, the Chairman of the State Committee said that the main objective of the Committee, which is far from the political processes, is to implement projects with the aim to preserve the national, cultural identity of our compatriots abroad, not to forget their mother tongue, and learn profoundly the language of the countries in which they live. Speaking about the activities of our compatriots in Russia and the Azerbaijani diaspora organizations, the Chairman of the SCWD emphasized the importance of further development of cooperation between the relevant structures of the two countries.

Ambassador Mikhail Bocharnikov, in his turn, provided information on his country's diaspora policy and shared his experience with the activity of Russian diaspora in the countries where he worked. Speaking about the activities of the Russian community in Azerbaijan, the Ambassador said that there are 300-400 thousand Russian communities here.

At the meeting, it was suggested to hold regular discussions for improvement of the activity of Azerbaijani diaspora organizations in Russia and further expanding cooperation, as well as meetings between the SCWD and the leadership of the Russian relevant structure.
