Conference on "Armenian claims after 24 April " was organized by Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation in Istanbul, Turkey. Head and members of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, Head of Turkey-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group Shamil Ayrim, Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul Masim Hajiyev, Head of apparatus of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Dashgin Rajabli, Turkish parliamentarians, historians and intellectuals attended the conference, moderated by Professor Aygun Attar, a member of the Coordinating Council of World Azerbaijanis.
Professor Aygun Attar pointed out that the Ottoman Empire had been subjected to pressure from inside and outside in 1915 and that migration was necessary for the protection of the unity of the state. Aygun Attar recalled that as a result of this migration more than 2 million 500 thousand Muslims, including Turks, lost their lives.
Head of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation Akkan Suver said that the sides who have racist hatred towards Turkey should change their views to Turkey and should obey the decisions of international court. The speaker said that the events that took place 100 years ago were brought to the agenda, but the events that took place in Karabakh 20 years ago were winked.
Shamil Ayrim, head of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group, noted that this issue was not a question of politicians but a historian's research. He stressed that there is no black spot in our history.
Speaking at the conference, head of the apparatus of SCWD Dashgin Rajabli also stressed the importance of investigating the genocide issue. At the same time, head of the apparatus said that it is necessary to look into the future without forgetting the past. He noted that joint action is necessary in terms of more accurate delivery of the truth about the so-called “Armenian genocide” and the Khojaly genocide that took place in the recent past. The head of the apparatus emphasized the importance of uniting our joint efforts in this direction and made proposals on joint action. The participants of the conference accepted the proposals with satisfaction and pointed out the importance of joint activities.
