Delegation led by Fuad Muradov, chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited Georgia on 2 April.
The chairman of the State Committee visited the monument to the National Leader in Heydar Aliyev Park in Tbilisi and laid flowers in front of it. Ambassador Dursun Hasanov, head of SOCAR's Georgian office Mahir Mammadov and others accompanied him.
Then, Muradov met with about 50 Ahiska Turks, who are citizens of Azerbaijan studying in Samtskhe-Javakheti State University in Aklhaltsikhe and Tbilisi. Muradov said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev always pays attention and takes care of the Azerbaijani citizens , as well as our compatriots living in foreign countries. The meeting of the Azerbaijani delegation with the students is a part of that policy. The aim is to interest and support for the problems of the Ahiska Turks who are citizens of Azerbaijan and study in Georgia.
During the meeting held in sincere and warm atmosphere, an exchange of views took place. The Chairman of the State Committee also touched upon the problems of the students. Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Fatma Ceren Yazgan, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Dursun Hasanov, Secretary General of the World Meskhetian Turks' Union Ziyaddin Kasanov and representative of WMTU in Georgia Ismayil Ahmadov also attended the meeting.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Georgia Dursun Hasanov, Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Fatma Ceren Yazgan, head of SOCAR Georgia Office Mahir Mammadov delivered speeches on the problems of the education of Ahiska Turks, the situation in the region and other issues, and gave recommendations to the students. Chairman of the Committee F.Muradov also emphasized the attention and care of the Georgian government to Azerbaijani citizens studying in this country.
