Delegation of the State Committee on Affairs with Diaspora, during their visit to the United States, held the next meetings in Washington.
Another meeting was with Mark Lewin, Chairman of the National Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry. The meeting focused on the activities of Diaspora organizations, exchange of experiences and cooperation. The State Committee has exchanged views on Works have done in the recent months, coordination councils, cooperation with the Jewish diaspora and other organizations. Speaking about the situation in the Jewish community in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani-Israeli relations, the sides also talked about the projects related to youths. At the end, sides reached an agreement on cooperation.
The next meeting in Washington was held with co-chair of the Turkish-American Steering Committee (TASC) Gunay Evinc and other members of the Committee.
In the meeting it was discussed about cooperation between the Turkish and Azerbaijani diasporas. The State Committee on Affairs with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Turks living abroad were included in the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of Diaspora policy. According to the Memorandum mentioned the need of deepen cooperation in the future, to work on a common strategy and together in cities that are the political centers of the world, such as Washington. It was decided that the activities of the Turkish and Azerbaijani diasporas should be analyzed, identify problems and develop a common strategy.
The delegation also held a meeting in Washington with Jason Isaacson, Deputy Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee. The Azerbaijani-Israeli relations were discussed during the meeting. The situation in the Jewish community in Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani community in Israel were discussed at the meeting and exchanged views on the issues of cooperation. It was agreed with American Jews Community about cooperating to support the wider dissemination of the truths of Azerbaijan in the American public in the future.
In the second half of the day, the delegation participated in the "Azerbaijan Culture Day" at the Washington University Textile Museum. It was organized an exhibition featuring cultural values of our country at the museum and was presented examples of Azerbaijani culture.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan Republic to the United States Elin Suleymanov and Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Diaspora Fuad Muradov spoke at the event.
Speaking after the Ambassador's opening speech, the Chairman of the State Committee welcomed our compatriots and informed about the country's development dynamics in recent years and spoke about the importance of the event. He said that such events are necessary in terms of promoting national and cultural heritage. The Chairman of the State Committee noted the role of young people in disseminating the truths of Azerbaijan, protecting and promoting our national and cultural heritage. The event continued with an musical program consisting of dances of our younger generation.
After the event, a meeting was held with the community representatives at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center. In the meeting attended our compatriots, leaders and representatives of diaspora organizations, as well as diaspora representatives from other friendly nations. It was demonstrated a video about the activity of the State Committee on Affairs with Diaspora.
The Chairman of the State Committee spoke about the works carried out in the field of diaspora, about the future targets and about importance of the union activity. The opinions and problems of our compatriots, diaspora organizations were heard. The Chairman of the State Committee underlined that the Azerbaijani state is always with the diaspora and with our compatriots. It is always a priority to care and attention to our compatriots living abroad.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed about the intensification of relations between our compatriots living in the United States and the State Committee.
