State Committee on Work with Diaspora hosted meeting with head of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (PTARC) Abdullah Eren
Valeh Hajiyev, first deputy chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, welcomed the guests and spoke about the friendship and fraternity relations between two countries, 100 years relations that today have been successfully developed by the Presidents of the two countries in the political, economic, cultural, educational and other fields. It was noted that, great leader Heydar Aliyev established the Azerbaijani diaspora in several countries, sending Azerbaijanis to prestigious universities of foreign countries in the USSR period.
The head of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities Abdullah Eren informed about the activities of his organization and noted that the main goals of the 5 million Turks living in Europe today are to protect their language and culture, and to increase their activity in the political life of the countries where they live. He said that he came to Azerbaijan for a meeting with graduates of the Turkey universities and talked about the Turkish Alumni Program. He said that 350 Azerbaijani students benefit from the program covering 140,000 students worldwide now. As well as, 50 meetings of graduates have been organized in 36 cities of 30 countries till know based on the program that started in 2017.
The problems of azerbaijanis immigrated to Turkey in the 1990s and currently living there were discussed at the meeting. Abdullah Eren stressed that Turkey side will continue to support afterAzerbaijan side finishes the process of updating the identity documents, documents certifying their affiliation to the Republic of Azerbaijan or their identification documents.
